this all started because a new house was put up for sale like two doors down from my parents and i think it's super cute on the outside. it's also a very normal sized house unlike most of the mcmansion hell new construction i see, which gave it additional points in my eyes.
i saw it was finally put up for sale the other day, so i searched it on zillow. omg yall. omg.
i'm with my mom in the car. i go hey mom, how much do you wanna guess that house is listed for? and she can tell by my tone it's gonna be unexpected so she's like i'll go high on my estimate. $250k. and I'm like, go higher. she's like??? $300k??? no.
it's listed for $390,000
bear in mind, i do not live in like california or colorado something where this would be a steal because all houses are like $1M these days. i'm aware there are multple parts of the country where housing prices are MUCH higher. but this is the rural south in the middle of nowhere and they're asking this price. even the larger houses in the area do not go for this.
i then proceed to read the description for it and we nearly lose our minds. we're cry laughing. it's going on about being in the peaceful countryside "close to city ammenities" (referring to my hometown 4 miles away.) like??? city ammenities??? YOU MEAN A POST OFFICE AND A SINGLE GROCERY STORE? it continues to go on about access to schools and "shopping centers" which we also laugh about because yeah, sure, we've got a shopping center. it has a dollar general, a hair salon, a pharmacy, and once a guy set himself on fire in the parking lot. is that the shopping center experience we're waxing poetic about in the house description?
.
anyway all of that and then the interior photos is that completely boring black and white and gray cookie cutter blandness and im like wow. you had soooooo much potential didn't you
